YOUNG ACTORS PROGRAM - SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

Welcome

The National Drama School’s holiday programs for primary and secondary school students offers budding young actors a fantastic opportunity to create an instant ensemble and work with our professional teachers to devise and perform works for stage and screen.

In a safe and supportive environment, learn performance skills that harness your understanding of voice, physicality and focus to convey ideas and stories.

Find out how to response to stimulus, create scripts, edit and collate, follow threas, distil concepts and extend ideas further.

All School Holiday Programs culminate in a public performance for family and friends.

Our age-based groups and strictly limited capacities ensure that each young actor receives the appropriate training and attentions – and can make friends!

WInter SCREEN ACTING

LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION!

Star in your own short film these school holidays!

A week of inspiration, creativity and play.  These Winter School Holidays, The National Drama School opens its doors to primary and secondary school students wanting to explore a career in acting or to develop their imaginations and express themselves creatively. Over five fun-filled days, this exciting, hands-on, school holiday program will introduce participants to a range of Screen Acting techniques as they work together to create a short film.

Suitable for children 8-18 years old, the Winter Screen Acting program is held in The National Drama School studios in St Kilda. City of Port Phillip concession card holders may be eligible for assistance with fees.

Groups will be allocated according to ages. Open to ages 8-18 Juniors (years 3 and 4) Intermediate (years 5 and 6) Senior (years 7-12)

Guest Director – Vanessa Stacey

A graduate of the CPIT Jazz School and Toi Whakaari, Vanessa Stacey has more than twenty-five years experience in Creative Arts and Arts Education, having worked extensively across the Music, Television, Theatre and Film industries.

Vanessa worked for five years in the UK as a musician, TV presenter and actor while managing her own production company, producing youth content for Channel 5 Television.

Vanessa has coordinated and directed Whitireias’ Screen Acting Course and been artist in residence and guest tutor for Massey, Ucol and Toi Whakaari. She works extensively as an actor, writer, producer, director, publicist, tour management, festival curator and producer both independently and with The Drop LTD for large scale events including: Tora Tora Tora Festival, Erupt Arts Festival, Homegrown and Summerset.

Vanessa joined the Creative Capital Artist Trust where she currently curates all Ngā Toi and Indigenous content for CUBADUPA, She is the Director of the New Zealand Fringe Festival.

Explore your body and movement as we dive into the world of physical theatre.

A week of inspiration, creativity and play. 
These Spring School Holidays, The National Drama School opens its doors to primary and secondary school students wanting to explore a career in acting or to develop their imaginations and express themselves creatively.
Over four fun-filled days, this exciting, hands-on, school holiday program will introduce participants to a range of Physical Theatre techniques as they work together to create a short live performance.
Suitable for children 8-18 years old, the Spring School Holiday Physical Theatre Week is held in The National Drama School studios in St Kilda. City of Port Phillip concession card holders may be eligible for assistance with fees.

Groups will be allocated according to ages.

These Summer School Holidays, The National Drama School opens its doors to primary and secondary school students wanting to explore a career in acting or to develop their imaginations and express themselves creatively.

Over five fun-filled days, this exciting, hands-on, school holiday program will introduce participants to a range of Stage Acting techniques as they work together to create a live performance.

Suitable for children 8-18 years old, the Summer School Holiday program is held in The National Drama School studios in St Kilda. City of Port Phillip concession card holders may be eligible for assistance with fees.

Groups will be allocated according to ages.
