My Recollection of The National Theatre Opera SCHOOL
My name is Carole McKenzie and I was the Countess in ‘The Marriage of Figaro’, the first show in the ‘new’ revamped theatre. We were The National Theatre Opera School & rehearsed in the studios below with conductors Peter Rorke &and Robert Rosen and directors such as Blair Edgar and Malcolm Steed. I sang with many folk who became well-known performers.
At the end of my years with The National Theatre Opera School I went on to win the Adelaide Aria, the Sydney Sun Aria, the Melb. Sun Aria & the Metropolitan Opera Auditions – as Carole McKenzie. It was a great training ground!
