Rod Gilbert has been a renowned drummer and singer on the Australian jazz circuit since co-founding the premier four-piece swing band The Shuffle Club in 1999.
Since 2010, Rod has also worked as a freelance producer of concerts, theatre and circus and a venue manager. Performing live since age of 16, he is now firmly established as one of Australia’s most talented drummers and sought-after frontmen.
As a producer he has worked on a diverse array of shows and has written as well as produced a number of successful shows throughout the country. As a venue manager, Rod was the Venue Operations Manager at MEMO Music Hall up to 2022 and currently is the Venue Operations Manager at The National Theatre Melbourne.
Performing and producing as a part of jazz, arts and cabaret festivals throughout Australia, Japan and the UK, performing across the world to sold-out houses and five-star reviews. He regularly travels the globe with The Famous Spiegeltent, as the drummer for Bob Downe and the award-winning show La Clique, also performing with The Syncopators throughout Europe. Rod has performed at the Edinburgh festival for a total of 10 years to date.
