Rodrigo is a Salvadoran actor based in Melbourne. He is the Co-Artistic Director of the renowned plein-air theatre company 5ANGRYMen and the creator of Black Sand Studio, an alternative studio space designed to support Melbourne’s independent arts sector.
His works have been showcased in Argentina, Australia, El Salvador, Japan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Panama.
His theatrical advocacy explores diverse movement-based forms, unlocking the potential of the body as a communicative and political tool. Deeply inspired by the ritualistic nature of theatre, he continues to investigate the expressive possibilities of the actor’s body, aiming to transform performances into ceremonial gatherings. His vision is to create theatre as a ritual that fosters community and connection, building collective experiences and shared identities.
Rodrigo is also exploring a new facet as a writer, having produced his first self-written and self-directed physical theatre production, HE. This acclaimed show has toured across three continents, and is now in its eighth season.
