A ballet dancer since the age of three, Shelley Wakefield progressed to professional training at the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts, UK. She went on to have a successful 25 year on-stage career, performing in No 1 UK tours with musicals, cruise ship contracts and a ten year contract in Macau as Dance Captain, Aerialist and dancer.

On Moving to Australia in 2014, Shelley found a love for teaching dance, working with Australian Learning Group and Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance. Shelley now has extensive experience in dance education heading up a variety of vocational training programs as the teacher and liaison between government bodies, schools, students (domestic and international), and families.

Most recently, Shelley enjoyed working at The Australian Ballet taking care of the company’s footwear including pointe shoes and character shoes.

As a teacher, performer, parent and administrator, Shelley brings a holistic approach to her role at The National.
