Max is a Melbourne based stage manager, production manager, and technician who studied at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). Max is currently the Technical Manager at the National Theatre Melbourne. Before joining the National Theatre in August 2022, Max worked as a freelance stage and production manager. One of the many highlights from his time as a freelancer includes his role as Stage Manager for the critically acclaimed season of Yentl (dir. Gary Abrahams) at Arts Centre Melbourne, which received nine Green Room Award Nominations. Max has also worked extensively in Melbourne’s independent theatre sector, working as Stage Manager for The Great Australian Play (dir. Saro Lusty-Cavallari) and Assistant Stage Manager for Prayer Machine (dir. Krystalla Pearce) at Red Stitch. Max has also worked several times with award-winning independent collective Stage Mom. In addition to stage and production management, Max has been exploring his practice as a lighting designer, gaining design credits such as: Lighting Designer, The Triumph of Man (dir. Mary Angley); Lighting Designer, Hedda GablerGablerGabler (dir. Mary Angley); and Assistant Lighting Designer, The Amateurs (dir. Susie Dee).
