Course Overview

Take the challenge to get out of your head and into your body!

The Creative Body: The Joy of Play workshop series is focussed on tapping into your creative expression through movement. In Term 4 join Evangelos (Ange)  Arabatzis to explore the power of improvisation.

Ange strongly believes in, and is very passionate about, the power of improvisation and its ability to inspire, heal and empower the actor to be braver than they thought possible.

Through understanding and exploring the body as the actor’s instrument we can discover new ways of expressing that require minimal intellectual ‘head work’, and thus enabling the actor to experience new realities through the body.

Ange’s workshops centre around fun and safe improvised theatre games and exercises that are designed to help adults rediscover the Joy of Play and the power that lies therein.

Testimonials

Ange is a great teacher. He is really passionate about what he does and this shows in the way in which he delivers the class. He cared about each one of us providing great feedback and allowing us to improve and grow. – Nicolas

I liked the emphasis on encouraging our inner child to play. Ange had a gentle hand but was always watching and observing us, and knew when to throw in a challenge or comment that would steer us in the right direction.   (Anonymous)

Ange was fantastic! He was generous with his time, his feedback is valuable and he created an environment that actively nurtures the creative spirit. I was provided with many opportunities to experiment with our exercises and was given easy to understand directions and corrections that will no doubt help me later on. We are all grateful to have done this course with him. I took the course to build confidence in myself for a variety of reasons and I think it’ll have a lasting impact, I just feel more grounded and at ease with even the awkward aspects of who I am. excited to return later in the year and build on the skills, and I’m a bit gutted that due to some travel I will fall out of sync with my classmates and miss next term. but we have made good friends and hang out anyway, so thanks everybody!  Thanks for the wonderful opportunity and I look forward to coming back to the National Theatre!  – Liam Francis
