CYGNETS (28 and 29 June)

The National Ballet School presents

Tchaikovsky’s timeless ballet Swan Lake is one of the most respected, best known, and technically challenging ballets in the classical canon.

Not one to shy away from a challenge, Artistic Director Damian Smith and the teachers and students of The National Ballet School will pay homage to the iconic ballet with an inspired mid-year production entitled Cygnets.

Experience the fateful story of Prince Siegfried, the Swan Queen Odette and her evil counterpart Odile, in just two acts. Along with essential highlights such as The Dying Swan and the Danse des petits cygnes (Dance of the Little Swans), keep your eyes peeled for a menagerie of puppies, ducks and tiny little black and white cygnets.

Students of all ages will take part, showcasing varied levels of mime and character skills, technical prowess and demanding variations.

Cygnets features transformative performances, beautiful choreography, magic visuals and Tchaikovsky’s compelling score in a must-see theatrical event for the whole family.
