Elite Program Ages 11+

The Elite Program is designed to prepare younger students for the physical demands of a full-time dance training program, and we ensure our programs are holistic and healthy to avoid injury. All pathways into full-time training are carefully prepared for each dancer because their progression is a journey unique to them.

The students have an opportunity to undertake more hours (up to 12 hours) of study under the Elite Program to ensure that their training continues to grow and become more refined in technique and artistry. Entry to the Elite Program is by audition and interview.

Elite Transitional Program Ages 14+

At the National Theatre Ballet School, we encourage a well-rounded education because we know that this approach is highly valued in Dance. Students who undertake the Certificate IV in Dance train for 24 hours per week while studying their VCE  alongside the program. The Elite Transitional Program is developed and designed for students who are not quite ready for the full-time commitment and want to continue their education at their regular educational facility or with a distance education provider.

The Elite Transitional Program provides students with the opportunity to attend two to three dance classes during the day in our full-time school environment. The program is tailored to suit the individual student and is flexible in delivery. Ensuring that their training grows and becomes more refined in technique and artistry.

Entry to the Elite Transition Program is by audition and interview.

Both programs enable the students to prepare physically and mentally for the rigors of Full-Time Ballet training.

Elevate Performance Program Ages 13 – 17

The National Theatre Ballet School offers dancers from Australia and New Zealand aged 13 to 17 years living in regional and remote areas a taste of full-time dance and performance opportunities.

Entry to The Elevate Performance Program is by audition. This two-week experience with the National Theatre Ballet School is offered up to three times a year to develop young artists by focusing on Performance.

Under the famous National Theatre Ballet School banner, Elevate students will expand their dance, performance, choreographic skills, and technique while connecting with other like-minded peers and forming lifelong bonds with others.

The Elevate Performance Program offers pathways as the students mature in their dance practice and drive to prepare for full-time professional training. Elevate associates experience professional-level coaching opportunities from former highly acclaimed professional dancers and specialty male coaching from Artistic Director Damian Smith.

All productions and studio performances are performed within the school’s multiple venues, including our very own 800 seat beaux arts theatre (The National Theatre Melbourne) and intimate black box theatre.
