The National Ballet School: Training world-class dancers for more than 80 years

One of Australia’s preeminent dance training institutions, The National Ballet School (formerly the National Theatre Ballet School) is devoted to providing exceptional dance training to students of all ages.

Led by Artistic Director Damian Smith, a renowned former Principal Dancer with the San Francisco Ballet, our diverse and highly accomplished teaching faculty deliver a comprehensive dance education. The School aims to inspire a life long passion for dance.

The National  Ballet School is located in Melbourne’s historic National Theatre. Students will enjoy training in our heritage-listed building and performing in the 800-seat professional theatre.

The National Ballet School offers a wide variety of dance training including full-time accredited courses, full-time emerging artist program, Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, contemporary, jazz and tap from junior to senior levels. The school also provides Extension & Elite programs, by audition.
