Intro to Acting (9 Weeks) $230Intro to Acting gives participants a chance to find out what acting is all about in a supportive and fun environment. The emphasis is on working collaboratively and unlocking the sources of your creativity. Don’t worry if this is your first go at acting – jump in and see what happens. Acting 1 (12 Weeks) $340If you’ve completed the Intro course or done some acting basics elsewhere you’ll probably be ready to move to the next level. Acting 1 starts with improvisation and self-devised work before moving on to basic text analysis and rehearsal techniques. The focus here is on developing greater confidence in performance and discovering further techniques to allow fuller, uninhibited imaginative responses. Wednesday 7:30pm – 9:30pm |

Acting 2 (12 Weeks) $340Acting 2 is primarily a scene-study workshop. It assumes that you have some performance experience and are interested in developing your ability to interpret and utilise text and to finesse your acting skills. Participants may decide to work towards a workshop performance for an invited audience in the last week or so of the course. Sunday 2:00pm – 4:00pm |

Acting for Film & TV (8 Weeks) $300Guided by an experienced screen actor this course explains the basics of acting for film and television. While useful for those with little acting experience, it will be of greatest benefit to students who have an understanding and some experience of stage acting. Sunday 2:00pm – 4:30pm |

Chris BendallChris is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts directing course. He currently works as a director, acting teacher and casting consultant and is Artistic Director of Theatre @ Risk. His recent directing credits include Checklist for an Armed Robber, Homebody / Kabul and Requiem for the 20th Century (Theatre @ Risk), Inheritance (Full Dress Productions). He has been an Affiliate Director for Melbourne Theatre Co, and has also worked for Playbox Theatre, Sydney Theatre Co, Belvoir St Theatre and the VCA. Chris has been nominated for a Green Room Award for Outstanding Direction for Polygraph and has received the George Fairfax Memorial Award for his contribution to theatre. |

David MylesDavid Myles worked in the UK, USA and Europe for 25 years with acclaimed companies such as the National Theatre of Great Britain, The Royal Dramatic Theatre of Sweden, as well as the BBC, ITV and Paramount Pictures. In Australia he has directed drama, music theatre and opera for the MTC, Playbox, Victorian Arts Centre and the Melbourne, Adelaide, Port Fairy and Castlemaine Festivals. |

Trent BakerTrent is a graduate of the WAAPA acting program and the VCA post graduate directing course. He was one of the 12 actors to form Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre, where he directed Brilliant Traces and appeared in The Lights, Down the Road and Psychopathia Sexualis. He has also directed True West, Knives in Hens, Burn This, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, The Actor’s Nightmare and an outdoor production of Romeo and Juliet. For MTC Trent was assistant director to Simon Phillips on Festen. He has three times played the title role in MacBeth for MTC Education and appeared in Still by Jane Bodie at The Malthouse. Other theatre credits include Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Nights Dream, The Wind in the Willows, Boys Life, The Bear, the one man show Van Gogh and Corpus Christi. He has recently completed touring with Bell Shakespeare in their Actors at Work program. |
